The request for this bear came from a customer who purchased some Reiki dolls. I'm not into Reiki whatsoever, but I took on the challenge to make the first doll for a friend who is. I had no idea how popular it would be! This panda is meant to be used as a prosperity doll. She wanted the bear to be holding two gold coins. I was at a bit of a loss as to how to do that. Crocheting gold circles wasn't going to look like coins. The gold "coins" in each hand are made from hand cut wood and painted gold. I drilled a tiny hole in each and secured with gold thread.
I've worked this pattern before(see here). It's a Lalylala mod from a Dutch blog 2 Steekjes Samen Gehaakt. The pattern is in Dutch but you can translate it to English on your computer.
