Crochet Reiki Chakra Doll

I received a special request from a friend for a Reiki doll.  I'm always up for a challenge, so here ya go! Honestly I had never heard of Reiki before now. What I have learned is that Reiki is a Japanese technique of "laying hands on" for healing, stress relief, and to promote well being. The different colors on the doll represent the seven chakras. Dolls are used for reiki training and distance healing.

This doll was based on one by Knot By Gran'ma. I started on this before I realized she had her pattern for sale. Oh well, with a little trial and error, it all worked out. Sorry, my pattern is not available.

I have these dolls available occasionally in my Etsy shop

Wordless Wednesday: Utah

Family trip to Utah: Arches & Canyonlands National Parks
This place is beautiful! Photos can't even capture what you're seeing, it's so vast. If you have the opportunity to go to the Moab area, do it.

Custom Built Wood Desk

Why buy when you can make it! I've had the same cheap computer desk forever. After my husband built his flag end table, we figured why stop now? Lots of browsing through Pinterest gave us some great ideas, and we finally landed on this desk from Centsational Girl. I love the look and it's a pretty simple design. An added bonus is that we were able to use some leftover lumber and didn't have to spend much on addition pieces we needed. Now I have a custom, solid wood desk that I'll be able to enjoy for many years and my husband will enjoy bragging about his mad woodworking skillz!

Fabric Covered Mouse Pad

My mouse pad got a face lift! Ok, this is totally embarrassing but my mouse pad is like 15 years old and is disgusting! You can barely see, but it did have Miami Hurricanes(my husband's fav team) on it. It started getting nasty a while ago but he wouldn't let me get rid of it, Since then it's gotten worse and worse and honestly, I just stopped noticing it.

The other day I finally looked at it and decided to do something about it. All you need for this project is new piece of fabric, some spray adhesive, scissors and the old rubber bottom. First thing I did was peel off the old fabric cover. This was pretty easy since it was half off anyway! After removing the old fabric, go outside(it's toxic) and spray a nice thick coat of the adhesive onto the rubber. Place the new fabric on and trim with scissors around the edges. Done.
