I wanted it to be a little snug to be able to stay on with the weight of the hair. The original pattern wasn't designed to hold weight. My daughters is a little small for her age so I wouldn't worry about it. I just wanted to point out that Row 1 does not say to join at the end of the row. The chain before says to join, and each row after says to join, but this is left out of the instructions for Row 1. I should have listened to my instinct and joined, but I didn't, and now there is a whole in my work. I am not upset, though, because I know how to fix the hole. You may want to consider adding in the "join," so that beginning crocheters don't get confused. :) <br /><br />I *love* this pattern, over all! I can't wait to see my daughter's face when I give this to her.
