DIY Sharpie Designs
So, if you're on Pinterest, you've seen this project. What a fun and simple idea right? Well, there is much debate as to whether this actually works. I really wanted to try it, so after visiting many websites and gathering everyone's ideas and tips for success, we gave it a try...IT(mostly)WORKED!
Ok, so it wasn't a 100% success. For some reason, the red Sharpie we used rubbed off when washed and another color faded to a light grey color. Besides the red, the other colors seem to be stuck on there pretty good so far. I'm going to steer clear of the dishwasher though, just to be safe.
Here's how we did it:
- Used dollar store dishes, washed with soap and water, then wiped down with rubbing alcohol
- Wash hands before beginning to remove excess oils from hands
- Draw with regular Sharpie markers(alcohol can be used to correct mistakes)
- Let set for 24 hours
- Place in cold oven on cookie sheet, turn on oven to 400°, bake for 45 minutes, turn off oven, allow dishes to remain in oven till it cools. If the colors are coming off, someone advised baking it a second time.
